The inspiration for Just Be Somebody began when Bobby Ford asked his great-grandmother, Estella "Lilmama" Riley-James:
"What should I be when I grow up?"
Her answer was simple: "Just Be Somebody."
Those three words became the guiding principle of Bobby's life.
Raised by his mother, Elouise Ford, in a hardworking single-parent family, Bobby learned resilience through adversity, responsibility through work, and confidence through sports. His journey—from working in the farm fields of North Florida as a child, to becoming a collegiate athlete, professional basketball player, healthcare executive, mentor, coach, husband, father, and community leader—demonstrates that greatness is built through perseverance, character, faith, and service.
Today, Bobby continues that journey by helping others discover their own purpose.

For Bobby Ford, basketball opened doors that changed his life forever. Growing up in MacClenny, Florida, he discovered that sports could provide opportunity, confidence, and hope.
